Jim Jones, Managing Director of North Wales Tourism explained to BBC News that members needed to know urgently what was happening with regards to any new rules coming in force after the firebreak lockdown in Wales . There has so far been no decision confirming whether people will be able to travel, if hotels or caravan parks can re open and if so in what capacity.

“The current lockdown is really unfair for business. I’ve said from day one we should absolutely be protecting lives but at the same time we should be protecting people’s livelihoods. It’s the lack of information, the lack of engagement from the Welsh Government and business.” Jim said.

North Wales Tourism said the sector was worth more than £3bn to the region and employed more than 132,000 people.

Victoria Roberts who runs a glamping site and a holiday accommodation business in Anglesey advised she was getting enquiries but did not know if she could take bookings from 9th November when the firebreak ends.

She expressed her concern at the current situation saying that people needed to know with clear reasons why decisions were being made.

Vaughan Gething, Minister for Health and Social Services in Wales told a recent coronavirus press conference that discussions would continue with stakeholders including tourism.
