Work has begun for Christmas at Cardiff Castle which is planned to run from Thursday November 12th to Sunday January 3rd 2021. Organised by Cardiff Council and Sayers Events it will be managed according to strict Covid-safe guidelines.

Although the annual Winter Wonderland in Cardiff had to be cancelled it is hoped this new event will give people something to look forward to during what is going to be a different festive season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Winter wonderland favourites such as the big wheel and a small selection of festive family rides will be available. There are also plans for a ‘Ski Hut’ style alpine lodge selling seasonal food and drink. An open air Ice Walk is being designed so that people can enjoy ice skating in a socially distanced way.

Norman George Sayers of Sayers Events, who normally organise Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland said: “We are determined to give the city a smile at Christmas, so we’ve worked closely with Cardiff Council and Environmental Health to gather a collection of outdoor attractions in and around the castle. Families have had a lot to bear in 2020 so they can be reassured we are working tirelessly to make Christmas at the Castle as safe and enjoyable as possible.”

Visitors are required to only pre book for the ice walk and each attraction can be paid for individually. The event will open from midday until 9pm weekdays and until 10pm on weekends.
